Once a tired mixed-use building on the vibrant northern stretch of Portobello Road, this property has been reborn as a refined dialogue between heritage and modern design. The transformation celebrates the building’s Victorian roots while introducing a confident, contemporary sensibility.
At street level, the commercial unit was reimagined as a generous open-plan space defined by height, light, and flow. Structural walls were removed to create an uninterrupted volume, framed by a newly detailed shopfront and finished in a crisp, gallery-like Whitebox aesthetic—ready to host the next chapter of retail life on Portobello.
Above, the apartment was completely restructured and extended. The first floor now accommodates an additional bedroom and bathroom, leading to a serene rear terrace, while a new roof terrace offers panoramic views over Notting Hill’s eclectic rooftops. Inside, clean architectural lines meet warm, luxurious materials—an interplay of restraint and character that mirrors the area’s creative energy.
The result is not simply a renovation, but a curated restoration: a thoughtful layering of old and new that captures the timeless rhythm of Portobello Road.
